Every day I get to make new friends, and that’s pretty amazing. I enjoy getting to know who each person is, their interests, and learning about their families. My work involves assisting new patients and their parents in starting their orthodontic care. I offer education on how orthodontics works and the important aspects of the therapy, such as how best to care for their teeth and gums while wearing braces. Answering questions and encouraging patients to be excited about their new smile is all part of my day, and I love it!
Outside of work, I love spending time with my family. My son Zach and his wife Debbie live and work in Houston. My daughter Nicole is in Bellville, with her husband, Dennis, and my three grandchildren, Micah, Tre, and Tori. I’ve always had the desire to perform mission work and spent three weeks in West Africa as a dental assistant for the Mercy Ship dental clinic. It was an awesome experience and I will, one day, go back!
Visiting with our patients and their families is always a delight. I’m never sure what I’m going to hear about, but it’s always interesting! I love seeing the enthusiasm in patients as they start treatment and then watching how they start to become more confident as they see the changes in their smile. When their braces come off, our whole team celebrates with them, because we know they’re going to have a healthy, beautiful smile for life. My work duties include assisting our doctors as they perform procedures and delivering direct patient care, as well.
When I’m not working, you’ll often find me spending time with friends and my family. My husband, Shawn, loves to fly his airplane and my son, Ziek, loves to ride dirt bikes. I enjoy walking and painting.
Laughing with our patients, as they begin to feel comfortable and safe in our care, sharing stories and trading jokes, is all part of a day in my life at work, and I love it. Our patients are the best, and they burst through our doors with excitement to tell us about their latest adventures, or successes at school or in sports. Being around that kind of enthusiasm and happiness is contagious. In addition to providing direct patient care, I also assist our doctors during orthodontic procedures, making sure that the doctor has everything they need and ensuring that the patient is comfortable.
I’m very family-oriented, sharing my life with my husband, four children and my grandbaby. I’m passionate about sewing and love going to the beach.
We have such a fantastic team here, and I’m so proud to be a part of Brenham Orthodontics as one of the dental assistants! Even though I’m one of the newest members of the team, I already feel so at home here. We all look out for each other and want each other to succeed in all that we do. Getting to know our patients has been a lot of fun, too. Each person has his or her own unique story to tell, and I love listening!
I'm married and have two great kids. I enjoy family time and watching my kids blossom as they grow and experience new things. I am truly blessed.
